Weekend Workshops with Richard Powers

Description

Richard Powers (US) is a full-time instructor in dance history and contemporary social dance forms at Stanford University Dance Division, Department of Theater and Performance Studies.  His principal focus since 1975 has been social dance forms, from the Renaissance to today. Specializations include 19th century American and European social dance, dances of the Ragtime Era and Jazz Ages, and currently evolving vernacular dance forms.

We are excited to have two daytime workshops and two evening parties including taster classes!

Ragtime Era Workshop including One Step & Animal Dances
More bands these days who are incorporating Ragtime music into their repertoire so why not learn dances that go with the music! They were one of the forerunners of the Lindy Hop.

Cost: Both daytime workshops: £55 +bf per person (advanced bookings only)
Individual workshops: £30 +bf / £35 on the day (subject to availability).

Texas Tommy Workshop followed by Social Dance

7.45-10pm Social dance music from Ragtime to Rock n Roll and everything in between with DJs Simon & Richard.
